🎭 Saddest Anime Songs Countdown: #1 🎭
We’ve made it to the top of the list!
And hey—what better time to talk about this song than now?
It’s April, the month of cherry blossoms, soft piano pieces… and emotional damage if you’ve ever watched Your Lie in April. 😭 This song doesn’t just make you cry. It wrecks you. 😭
🎬 A Song That Shatters Hearts
“Orange” plays during the ending of Your Lie in April, an anime that beautifully captures music, love, and loss.
Here’s the thing: I actually heard this song before I watched the anime.
Even then, I was already looping it. I had no idea where it came from—just that it sounded kinda sad, nostalgic, and really beautiful.
And THEN… I found out it was from Your Lie in April.
I watched the show.
I finished it.
I cried.
No one…can finish that anime without crying.
🔥 Things to Watch Out For
Here’s the twist—Unlike ranks #5 to #2 where I arranged mostly the intro or chorus, this time I focused on the intro, which I personally think is the most iconic part of the whole song.
As soon as those first few notes hit, I get flashbacks of every emotional scene. Even if you haven’t watched the anime, the melody alone carries so much weight.
And I thought to myself…“This would be amazing on guitar.” And here we are!
However, you’ll also notice this arrangement is rated ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in difficulty.
Why? Let me break it down for you!
Speed – Looks Slow, Feels Fast
86 BPM might sound manageable, right?
But check the score—you’ll see loads of semiquavers (16th notes)!
And even worse, look at the photo below! See those 3 lines?
DEMI-SEMI-QUAVERS (32nd notes)!
The fast sections creep in QUICKLY, especially if you’re not used to high-speed fingerwork.
Tip: Listen to the original song closely before playing, then play super slowly with counting. Build speed gradually!
Rhythm – Irregular
The first bar already sets the tone: hold a note for 3.5 beats, then suddenly hit “+ a 1.”
That shift in timing makes it really hard to count, especially if you’re trying to stay on beat. (I’ll admit—I still miss it sometimes 😅)
How to deal with this?
👉 Break it down into smaller chunks.
👉 Play along with a metronome set to a slow tempo.
👉 Or better yet—sing the rhythm out loud until it feels natural.
Now look at bar 4—15 semiquavers, with a tie note on the 2nd.
Don’t try to read and play everything at once. Instead…Listen, hum, then play.
LH Position - Constant Movement
If you’ve watched my video, you might notice… my left hand is dancing all over the fretboard 😂
Before looking at the answer, can you guess how many positions I shift to?
Let’s break it down:
Fret 1–4 → Bars 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9
Fret 5–8 → Bars 2, 3, 4
Fret 7–10 → Bar 6
Fret 12–15 → Bar 7
Fret 12 → Bar 7
That’s about 5 position changes!
But don’t worry, they’re manageable with practice. Start slow, anchor your index finger, and move only when needed.
Slurs
For those who are new, slurs include hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides.
They’re usually shown with a curve connecting multiple notes.
For example: Look at bar 4–5—that’s a basic pull-off.
Then check the demi-semi-quaver section where the curve covers 3 notes. That’s a 3-note slur.
How to play that?
Press 7th fret (1st string) with your index.
Pluck once.
Quickly hammer-on to the 8th fret (middle finger), then again to 10th fret (pinky).
*Listen to how it sounds, original speed vs 0.5x speed.
This song hits different. Every time I play it, I feel something. And that’s why it’s #1 on my list.
Whether you’ve watched Your Lie in April or not—this is a must-learn for anyone who loves emotional music.
